Where did Bloons TD games begin?
Originally what started off as a collection of balloon popping puzzle games has shifted to a popular series of tower defense games with numbers 3 and 4 proving especially popular amoungst the flash games community.
Bloons was the original game created in 2007 where you controlled a monkey and had to pop a certain percentage of balloons to complete each of the 50 rounds. This game took off like a rocket and before long it was being played by millions of gamers all over the internet.
Around a year later and Ninka Kiwi brought out a tower defence version of the game - Monkey Tower Defence 1. Compared to other tower defense games that were being brought out in considerable numbers at the time the bloons monkey one was very basic. It featured a small number of towers, a basic grassy green track and nothing much to get excited about. It was almost like a tester to see if fans warmed to it as much as they did the original bloons games.
Even though the game was very basic the novelty of using the balloons monkey in a tower defense setting appealed to fans who asked for a more comprehensive game. Out came Monkey Tower Defense 2. This was almost like a small addon to the original game and only featured a few different features such as 3 tracks instead of one and several difficulty settings. Still it was nothing to shout about and many were saying it was what the original one should have been like as opposed to it being touted as a much improved sequel.
So NinjaKiwi had a job on to wow fans in the 3rd edition, in which case they spent a great deal more time developing the 3rd game. When it finally came out it was a massive hit. The game proved hugely addictive across many sites such as Kongregate.com, Ninjakiwi.com, Newgrounds.com, ArmorGames.com, AddictingGames.com plus many more.
So what made Monkey Tower Defence 3 such a big deal with fans? Well why not have a go at the game and just take a look at the impressive defense tower variety. The defense tower options and upgrades completed exceeded the second game in every shape and form, they were unbelievable. With towers ranging from Ninja Monkey Star towers to Spike-o-Pults and Super Monkey himself fans were terribly excited by the powerful weapons the third game had on offer.
Indeed Super Monkey was rediculously powerful, he had upgrade options to shoot plasma discs at twice the speed of the original Super Monkey directly out of his eyes. He had a supreme range to aim at and could destroy any type of balloon obliterating them in seconds. Of course getting this tower would prove hard and you would have to spend your money wisely to obtain a Super Monkey and upgrade one to its max!
The later levels of Monkey Tower Defence 3 are unbelievably crowded with balloons. So much so that you will need to have a fast running pc to be able to play the game at its optimum speed. Otherwise you may find your game seizing up like an old spectrum on the brink of extinction!
